Stitched from two 3x4 negatives, taken with an Anniversary Speed Graphic on Efke 25 Ortho film. If you spot out every pixel removing dust, is it the same picture anymore?

I finally had some time to make some 20x20" ambrotypes.
Exposure times were about 5 secs, 24"f4.5 Voigtlander petzval, amaloco rapid fixer
As it'is impossible to scan them i had to take pictures of them. i have to work on the "color" and reflections....

Wonderful work, Alex! I envy you the experience of making such plates, and the plates themselves. I think I understand a little of what you say in "looking at the plates it just looks like the sitters are still in my studio." It's not just the impressiveness in the scale, but that the plate itself is a direct artifact, what the light from the sitter fell on. Being very near 1:1 surely enhances that connection.

    This is amazing!

Speaking as someone who's just starting out in LF and only has a few years photographic experience in general I'm stoked to see everyone's work!

    Thanks

Even though I hate Model Mayhem, I found her on it and asked her to shoot. Two weeks later I flew out to Seattle with my son and had an hour long session in the hotel room because it was raining like crazy. She was kind of frail and very nice, but I knew I couldn't work her too hard, so I kept it very simple. Then my son and I drove down to San Francisco and shot other stuff in the rain....

Model Mayhem truly sucks and 99% of the so-called models and photographers are f-ing trash. But that 1% has potential!
