PS, see eBay 110734567127. I bought four boxes from this guy (he has about 70 left), it's IR820, in good condition and cheap. Think I might buy a few more boxes next pay for the purpose of stocking up, given that it's often 2x as much elsewhere.

I've just started using a 300mm imagon soft focus lens with efke IR film and a B+W 092 dark red filter and have had some curious results. The negs seem less soft than the ground glass image. I haven't researched the possible 'corrective effects' of the filter on the lens characteristics, but it may reduce aberrations.? Anyone use soft focus with infrared. I have used petzval lenses with infrared without any change from GG to neg.

I used some efke in my rb67 with the 150 sf, the results were very ghostly looking, i too have used a petzval with infrared. i have never used the 092 filter, do you have any examples you can post with th e 092?

I started using the B+W 092 filter hoping to let more light in from shadow areas of the image which produced decent results. It also reduces the infrared look just a little. I'm out of town, but will post some images later this week with the B+W 092 and the hoya r72 filters for comparison.

You're certainly not locked into those combinations but you can use those combinations or pretty much any other film and filter you like, scan it, and create your infrared look in Photoshop. I prefer doing it that way because of the control over the final "look" it gives you.
Been there, done that but it's not the same as shooting real infra-red film.

Thanks much for all your responses and photo examples. V. nice! I'm presuming that the same (R72) would work with color emulsion ? Does anyone have color samples. I'd like to do both, color and B&W. One more thing, any issues with the processing of the film ?

Color infrared is no longer made and wasn't made in sheets. I do have a source for some but it's $10/sheet for 4x5.

I'm pretty sure that shots using a rollfilm back on a view camera are acceptable in the Image Sharing forum.

It's actually about the same price as the "regular, non-Aura Efke IR" film from Freestyle. Which leads me to repeat the question for ISN that might have been lost in the noise floor:

Is this the Aura version of Efke IR820? In 35mm and 120 the price is the same but in 4x5 the Aura is almost twice as expensive as the non-Aura version. I've heard some people say it makes a real difference and others say it doesn't.
If this was shot on Aura and it's better, the sheet film is rather dramatically more expensive than the non-Aura and the eBay stuff is half the price. But if it's the non-Aura the sheet film isn't that much more than regular sheet film and the eBay stuff doesn't save enough to risk an unknown eBay seller versus a known quantity like Freestyle.

The stuff I linked to on eBay is not Aura. It is, however, good film and while you should feel free to distrust me, I have nothing to do with the seller and can vouch that the film I bought from him is in excellent condition.

While it's "about" the same on Freestyle (actually about 20% more), shipping from Freestyle is prohibitive for those of us not in the USA.

Wow, that sounds a bit touchy, didn't mean to upset you. I'm sure your experience has been fine.

The eBay stuff $45 and lists $8 shipping. Granted I didn't notice you were in Australia and the changes the shipping situation a lot. Freestyle lists Efke IR820 at $53.99 and, co-incidentally enough, when I put just that in my cart and calculated shipping to my zip code it came up $8. That's just over 16% less than Freestyle, less if you calculate the percentage based on total cost with shipping. But that's not the whole story because I order from Freestyle regularly so it probably costs well less than $8 extra shipping to add it to another order.

I understand your point in Australia, and I believe you have had good results with this film. But before I purchase off eBay from someone I've not purchased from before I personally have to a) be buying something I can't get elsewhere or, b) save more than eight bucks. YMMV of course.
