    Pentax spotmeter battery help

I have recently acquired a pentax spotmeter. The old analog type and I need to find working batteries for it. I honestly feel kind of dumb for asking. A searched around online and I couldn't find the answer, perhaps because I wasn't sure exactly what I was looking for. So, I need your help identifying the batteries needed to run this meter.

Ok, but the handle has a huge battery compartment for what looks like possibly a AA battery or two.

The huge compartment is for a 9v battery

I got a hold of one of these a few years ago. This meter came out before the Spotmeter V.

The 9 volt battery can be readily found in the US. I found a replacement for the mercury battery at a local camera shop.

I sold mine because I was worried about the future availability of the replacement button cell.

Thanks! I placed a battery in the meter. It responds on the low end, but I get nothing on the high end.

From 10-18 the meter does nothing.

This meter needs two batteries: 9v for low lights, and one old mercury (1,25v) battery, no longer available, for the high lights.

You can use either a Zinc-Air battery (1,3v) or an alcaline one (1,5v). Place it inside the little compartment on the bottom of the handle (open it with a coin).

There are also voltage regulators available for the Zinc-Air or Alkaline batteries which just slip over the end of the battery and keep the jolts at the right level.
