    Dimensions for 5x7 neg carrier.

    Hey0,

Does anyone happen to have an Elwood/Kodak enlarger with a 5x7 neg carrier?
I'd love to find out the dimensions of it so I can make one. Pictures would be great too.

I know its easy enough to make one, I'd just rather reference something first.

    Thanks

Here is one way of making an Elwood negative carrier with a minimum of tools. The bottom layer could be thin plywood, MDF, or hardboard. The sides can be built up and lap jointed at the corners for strength as shown, or made from solid pieces. The finger cutouts in the ends could be a V or square notch cut with a saw instead of the semicircular notch cut with a hole cutter as shown here. As for diminsions, I'd rather not bundle up and go out on a cold day to measure what's left of an old Elwood. The outside size permits free movement through the slot on the enlarger, and the inside is barely larger than 5x7 inches. The cutout in the bottom might be about 1/4 inch smaller than 5x7, depending on how tight you want to crop the edges. The negative is usually sandwiched between two 5x7 sheets of glass, although it might lay flat enough when supported only by the edges. If glass is used, it probably should be anti-newton glass.
