Hopefully that is the beginning of the end of that abominable format as a whole...
It won't be the end for awhile. Look at many Japanese Websites, they have "PC" and "Mobile" version links on the home page. I won't be surprised if they come up with a HTML-5 version of a Flash-like interface with tools to convert or translate Flash to HTML 5. They don't want to lose a market without trying.

Very interesting. I wonder how this will ultimately effect Lightroom Photogallery creation?

Microsoft announced it wasn't going to support Flash in future mobile Explorers in September and that was the kiss on the nail of the coffin of the writing on the wall for Flash's future.
I expect Adobe to get behind HTML5's canvas and make some good tools for it. They've got a lot of graphics tool making knowledge.

Maybe, but it's what they did with Flash and Acrobat, dominate that niche market with free readers and offer developer tools. They're losing Flash because of Apple's decision, not directly from the marketplace, which would like Flash compatibility on iPhones. I expect them to find ways to convert or translate Flash to HTML-5 to offer both for different platforms.

In my world of training development, there are a lot of projects that require Flash developers.

I don't like Flash, it made my computers run slower- I block it, and only use it if I need to.
I can't imagine the power drain it would make on my mobile devices, though it seems battery life would be about 50% shorter.
Rather than run through the reasons myself, here's what Steve Jobs had to say about it-
perhaps, the last word on the subject-
