    My First E6 Process!

Hi all! I'm excited! I just managed to complete my first process of 12 sheets of Velvia in my newly acquired old Jobo CPE (lift). It was the best feeling to see all that glorious Velvia goodness as I held the dripping trannies up to the laundry light! Only faffed 2 sheets in process (bad load). And 6 in shooting.

Here's 3 shots I am mostly happy with. I am so new to LF - these are from 4th or 5th outing with the big camera. Thanks so much to everyone on this forum - it has been such a help getting this far! It is an extraordinary resource.

Would love to hear any feedback that you guys can offer.

It's "Magic" isn't it? My first color film (E-4) was done on the kitchen table with a water bath in a dish pan. The old lady freaked!

For a critique.... I like the third one the best. Very peaceful. (I don't usually like seeing the sun in pics normally.... it's disturbing IMO. The eye goes to it and the rest is lost.)

I love the touch of green in the first one and the side-lighting on the last one. Looks like you nailed the exposure, even with all the vignetting. I take it there was no centre filter?

wow! just one question - I've got absolutely no experience with e-6 - the colors are intensified in post right? or are they originally saturated this level on film? cheers, Aron

Congrats on the successful processing and some nice images to come out of it, as well. I really like the third one!

Congratulations on a nice job! I too prefer the third photo.

See how easy it is? Sometimes anticipation is the worst part.

    Nice work Stef

I've found that the hardest part of processing E-6 at home is measuring-out the chemistry. Doing the math and measuring takes me 45 minutes. Other than that it's just a matter of making sure that all the steps are in their correct order in the trough and then correctly timing each step allowing sufficient drain time between each step and keeping the temperature spot on. Piece of cake!

Next time that you are out shooting the sun setting over the ocean or landscape, consider taking along a split (hard) ND filter. Meter off the Suns corona - not the disk itself - and use the grad to knock the Sun down while exposing for the foreground. That way you'll get a well exposed and not blown-out sun and a great foreground.
