I have a Epson 3800 printer and like to make 16x20's. My question is, is their any difference in quality if you feed the paper from the top or use the rear loading? I usually use the top load and have made excellent prints.

No difference in quality.
Top load works just fine for 16x20 prints on 17x22 sheets of paper providing you are using a paper of the proper weight.
The type of paper that can be used in the top loader is printed in the cover of the loading slot.
Some papers, such as Epson Exhibition Fiber paper, may not print perfectly in the top loader. The instructions that come with the paper provide guidance on this.
