AFFORDABLE SCSI cards that work with windows 7 64bit?

Are there any out there? I bought a polaroid spintscan 45 ultra and want to spend less than $100 on a scsi card that works with windows 7. adaptec has ones but theyre all pretty expensive it seems.

Ive seen people have the sprint scan 45 ultra up and running on windows vista so im assuming it can run on windows 7... if this is false i can just throw together an xp 32bit computer and call it a day (even though itd be nice to not have to do that)

Check ebay; some fairly decent Adaptec cards are available for $30-$50.

There originally were issues when Win7 was released, as Adaptec attempted to destroy its home-grown competition from the used market by dropping legacy support. So what do you consider "affordable"? U160 (19160) cards and U320 (39320) cards are 64bit OS supported - the former often sell for less than 10€ used, and even the latter go for 40€ BIN including a six months warranty on ebay hereabouts.

Of course, if you insist on buying new, your choices are limited - SCSI has pretty much retreated into the top price segment.

I was trying to buy new but it looks like thats pointless as the used vs new prices are insane.

Local ebay shop has it for $10, gonna pick that up tomorrow and return it if it doesnt work.

frankly i dont know crap about SCSI, the sprintscan 45 ultra has two plugs on the back, i have no idea what their interface is. The guy gave me 3 cables of varying widths and stuff hopefully one of them work with the above card

after tomorrow i might need some more help with getting the sprintscan 45 to actually work on windows 7. luckily these forum seems to be filled with knowledgeable people, i appreciate it since like i said, im lost when it comes to SCSI

wouldnt even fit in my motherboard... that doesnt look like a typical pci interface to me

The plugs are probably Wide SCSI ports, which were pretty common. One important thing to know about a SCSI bus is that it has to be terminated. It's usually accomplished by a termination plug that fits into the second SCSI slot on the last peripheral in the chain. As your SCSI bus will only have a single scanner (right?), the terminator will go on that second SCSI slot of your scanner.

Now, there are some peripherals which have an integrated terminator which can be activated by a switch, but I don't think the Sprintscan is one of those.

looks like 25 and 50 pin? 25 pin is an output? idk if its only one "way" or what

adaptec 19160 looks to be 50 pin...? i have a 50 pin to 25 pin scsi... hopefully 25 can go into the scanner 50 pin into the card

damn, do i really need a 50 pin to 50 pin or something? page 8 seems to indicate 25 pin the scanner is only for daisy chaining
