In the most general way I was thinking of Kertesz's image of stairs and a tulip, except that I have neither his skill, nor the tulip. But I did have a balustrade and a bamboo plant! Negative scan, HP5+, Pyrocat:

Troubling in a good way, and wonderful.

Beautiful tones. And the angles. The eyes keep going over those angles - checking them out to see if they are valid.
    Wonderful.

    Wonderful.
I forgot about that one !

I'm not a carpenter, but I suspect the door is hung at an angle in order to close by itself. If not, then it's sloppy view camera technique on my part.

Technique and door are great, but the wall seems to be wrong :-)

I think the door is fine. Its just the way the angles come together that makes one take a second look.
A nice mystery in a wonderful photograph.

In a vintage house, there are no perfect right angles or level.
