    Indiana

Any one in Indiana? Im located in Greencastle. 35 mins west of Indy on 70. As of now I have not shot any large format, I do shoot 100% medium format. I would love to learn the process of shooting large format.

Get an inexpensive camera and some film. You can put a starter kit together for cheap. What would you like to shoot and how do you work? Studio or field? Landscapes/portraits/architecture/wildlife/nightlife?
I find myself in the Greater Dayton Metropolitan Area with occasional wanderings into Lafayette usually a few weekends per year.
There are a few, if not several, members on this forum in your general vicinity. Give an idea of your goals and current methods. Others may be willing to demonstrate their cameras if you buy film, food, beer, etc.
Also, check out http://www.midwestlargeformat.com/ and http://www.apug.org/ for finding others that are nearby with similar interests.
    Welcome to the forum.

I live in Zionsville, Indiana on the northwest corner of Indianapolis. I'd be happy to introduce you to large format shooting. Drop me note.

    Best,
    Daniel

I am a people photographer, that includes all types of stuff though. Portraits, Families, street....If it has people in it, then it’s a go. Right now I am trying to decide between a press or a view camera. A press camera would probably be the better decision, easer to move and set up quick. I would like to dabble in handheld also, but that is the reason I have a blad. For the press i have been looking at graphic’s. For the view camera, looking into sinar f1 or there is a cambo sc for sell on here that is looking pretty good to start out with. I would like to get everything to start out with in a package deal.

Daniel is an outstanding photographer and printer; you couldn't ask for a better introduction to large format. There's also the Midwest Large Format Asylum (http://www.midwestlargeformat.com/) which started here in Indiana and occasionally gets together in the Indianapolis area for photography. I'm in Elkhart, up north on the Indiana-Michigan state line but we have some members in Indianapolis and there are likely others who aren't members of the Asylum. We'll probably be in Turkey Run State Park at some point this autumn; check out the Asylum's forum on upcoming gatherings to see when.
