    4x5 and 8x10 Round Up

So, soon, I will be in the market for a new 4x5 and maybe 8x10 field camera.

Does anyone know of one article, one thread, one magazine, one source of information that provides a head-to-head comparison of new/used equipment?

    thanx in advance,

    Joe

The book View Camera Technique has in chapter 12
a very extensive side by side comparison of 65 models
of 4x5 cameras and 33 models of 8x10 cameras.

It is also a great book.

    See this thread ...

Though even some of that is out of date. The Wehman is not avail new now for instance. And I think a couple more 8x10s have come out since then.

You aren't likely to see it in a comparison table but you should look at the Ritter 8x10

The Ritter is in my comparison table. I tried to contact Richard to get the missing data, but he never responded. Anyone who has a Ritter can go update the data in the googledocs link version of the spreadsheet at the end of the thread.

From everything I've heard about that camera, it is fantastic, and it and the Wehman were my two final choices despite the fact I didn't have the stats. The weight and size stats were the most important to me personally.

Here is the link to the doc, hosted now by Tim Parkin on his google docs account. Note also he has a more fleshed out lens sheet, if you scroll down to the bottom and switch pages.
