Venice in January

I am planning a trip to Venice next January, possibly two weeks.
I would like some advice for hotels that are nice but not overpriced and not too far out of the way.

Luis, Venice is expensive. When I travel I usually stay in a location for a week or two. So I use the Austin based "Home Away" web site to find vacation rentals. You can find apartments in Venice this way for $US 500.00 per week on up.

Check out "San Polo vacation apartment" on Home Away>Europe>Italy>Veneto. About 500 euros per week right downtown. You can cook your own meals. A bargain compared to Venice hotels. Good luck.
