sironarS 135 vs Super Symmar HM 110XL? i know that the 110XL is good, but i've f ound it expensive, and is to big to fold a technika. for my purpose 110 and 135 is similar, i prefer the big imag e circle of the XL but on a technika the sironar S 135 should be ok !

so my question is just about image quality, i believe it should be sim ilar (color slides, urban landscapes)

    any advices ?

i will buy it in Berlin this summer, any good address for second hand LF stuff ?

GET THE 110XL! It is a very sharp lens, noticably the sharpest I've owned. The inconvenience of not being abple to fold it in the body is minimal. (used to own a techV} As for size the lens itself is not that large. As for movements the 110 almost covers 8X10 so light fall off would be non existant on a technica. Yes you will pay alot more for the 110 but think of it as an investment with benefits that over time will outweigh the initial sticker stock.

I haven't used either, but in the US, the Schneider sells for 3.5 times the price of the Sironar. That alone would make the choice for me.

My first view camera lens was a 180mm Sironar, early 70's vintage. It was a very fine lens, and I would not hesitate to purchase another Rodenstock based on its performance.

I think you need to weigh up which is most important for you, either the small size of the 135 and the ability to leave it in place when the camera is folded, or do you go for the superior quality( afraid so!) and the larger image circle of the 110? I know which one I'd choose! I wonder why the reason to buy in Berlin? I'd be surprised if they were any cheaper, it would be an idea to check out some sites both in Europe and the UK Regards Paul

What about getting the 110 and something small, that is good enough to leave on the camera for those times that you really need to leave a lens on the camera?
