    INTRODUCTION TO LARGE FORMAT PHOTOGRAPHY


    An introductory workshop in large-format photography using the 4x5 and larger view cameras in a fun, engaging and social setting.

    All equipment film and film processing provided.

    What does large format photography using a view camera offer?
    • Beautiful Image quality with the opportunity for extreme sharpness & very attractive tonal rendering;
    • Freedom in manipulating and precisely controlling depth of field and perspective;
    • An alternative contemplative picture taking process that encourages fun & creativity.

    The Instructor:
    Mr. Hess has 30 years experience working commercially and in the art community with large format cameras. He is an accomplished fine art photographer, master printer & teacher who specializes in classic processes and museum presentation printing.

    Student takeaways:
    • Will be exposed to and have hands on experience working with a large format camera;
    • Will make one to three exposures with a view camera;
    • Will receive the processed negatives for exposures made;
    • Will have the opportunity to print their successful exposures in the dark room;
    • Will have an engaging, fun and social experience!


    Tuition: $180 ($165 members) Materials fee: $25
    Students will bring their own photo paper for use on the last meeting date.
    Dates: 3 Saturdays - July 23, July 30, August 6, 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM .
