Beseler 45S Color Head, lamp quits after a while???

I have a Beseler 45S mechanical color head, it has a fan built into it. Several times after having it on for a few hours, I'll hit the timer button and the lamp will not come on. The timer seems to be working fine. The head does not feel warm, nor is it blowing out hot exhaust.
I read the manual and they do not mention a safety circuit for overheating.
Am I supposed to be cycling the unit? Turning it off when I am printing, or is it OK just to leave it on?
    Anyone with similar experiences?
    Thanks,
    Bill

Best case is that your lamp burned out. Does it start working again after sitting?

Lamp sockets have a tendency to go bad. Take the bulb out and see if you can see the contacts are they clean and shiny? Any carbon or marks on the bulb pins?
Sometimes when a voltage regulated power supply is up in the head the heat can lead to premature failure of some of the parts.

    Agree with checking lamp sockets.

Yes it fires up again. I just quit for the night, and the next day all is well. I leave the head on while I am in the DR, the light is on intermittently but the fan is on all the time. Thought that would be good for cooling. I blew out the vent for the exhaust air, it was not dirty at all. I checked and the fan is working fine. Pulled the bulb out and it looks fine too. I'll do that one again and really look at the pins. I bought a new bulb, thinking that the original one burnt out. I'll replace the bulb and see what happens.
    Thanks, Bill

Check out the contacts in the socket. they're often the culprits.
