which vintage? 1970s, 1950s, 1930s, 1920s, 1890s, 1860s, 1840s? Different backgrounds for different eras...
To add to Jason's question, a Packard or a pack horse?
George Hurrell opened up a studio which had a stucco wall painted in off white paint and he was thrilled to death with it as a background. Yousef Karsh preferred natural surroundings as background. Richard Avedon preferred a stark white background. Like Jason said "when?". I will also add "who?".
