    The Department of Electronic Media Communication in the College of Mass Communication invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Photography/Digital Imaging at the rank of Assistant/ Associate Professor.

    Position starts August 1, 2011.

    Duties: This faculty position typically teaches four courses in photography each semester; advises students; participates in the oversight and maintenance of the photography labs; and serves on departmental, college, and university committees. Additionally, this faculty position will actively participate in photography curriculum and course development. Excellence in teaching, research and/or creative activity, and service is required of all MTSU faculty. MTSU seeks candidates committed to using integrative technologies in teaching. Minimum Qualifications Terminal degree in field expected by appointment date. Training and experience in visual media and/or art expected.

    The Master of Fine Arts in Photography required. A Master's Degree, with significant national/ international professional practice will be considered equivalent to the MFA. The successful candidate will teach beginning and advanced courses in traditional and digital photography, and is expected to demonstrate proficiency in B/W and Color chemical processes, and all aspects of digital photography from capture to output, including scanning and wide format printing. Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated expertise is preferred in at least one of the following areas: Documentary; Studio Lighting; Large Format Photography, and Digital Photography.     Official transcripts (not issued to student) of all college degrees and three letters of reference, specific to the position, will be required if selected for an on-campus interview.
