    Uniroller motor stopped reversing

My uniroller motor base (352) suddenly decided to stop reversing today while I was developing some negs. It just kept going in one direction.

Is there an easy thing to check on this to make it start reversing again? It used to rotate, click, then reverse, so I'm thinking there is something inside that turns a switch. But, before I open it and probably ruin it, being a total non-mechanical person, I thought I should ask...

    Thanks, Richard

if it runs in one direction,

just flip the drum over end-2-end, so it rotates the other way

I'd rather get it to reverse on its own again somehow...

Unirollers don't have a switch, or at least this model doesn't.

Have you opened it up? Mine has a paddle and it came loose from the shaft.

I opened up my Unicolor and disabled the switch (simply bent the piece of metal that hit the switch if I remember correctly.) So something inside probably loosened up.

There is a capacitor inside which is anchored at both ends. Eventually it is possible for the lead to break. Years ago I released one end so that it floats freely and is in no danger of breaking. You may need to replace that capacitor if the lead is broken, or if the lead is still long enough, re-solder it.

A capacitor lead is likely broken.
