I go about naked with nothing but my camera and film for a more direct and intense experience.
a lens wrench to fix the lens back to the lensboard if it gets loose

Snow Shoes, got caught without them once thinking that I would not be going off the beaten path. When the snow is 8+ feet deep it is not physicaly possible to go even a few yards without them. If my camera is in my truck now so are the snow shoes.
A few other items that I don't think have been mentioned.
Snow shoes for my tripod
Extra zip lock bags & sharpie marker
Big knife
Small knife
Cable saw
Firesteel
And in the truck
Chain
Rope
Tarp 10 x 10
Tie down straps
Survival kit
Cold weather gear (when necessary)
I’ve learned that “screwdrivers” are indeed key – that is, not a single “screwdriver.”
Once my Pentax spotmeter died due to an exhausted battery:
Lucky me, smart me, brilliant me – in my bag was a spare battery, plus a small screwdriver to open the battery lid.
Imagine my surprise when my small flathead screwdriver wouldn’t fit the battery lid! The screwdriver was too small. I should have had a choice of sizes, like Doremus. But perhaps that wasn’t my worst oversight – when I last replaced the battery, I had screwed the lid on unnecessarily tight. In lieu of a better screwdriver, I tried the top of my thumb, but that was no match for the cover, either. “No problem,” I thought. “A coin will do the trick.” But finding no change in my pocket added insult to an injured thumb. Good thing I had my spare “sunny-16” meter – but I’m not going to let this happen again. Ever. Now, there’s a penny, plus change, in my bag.
Money is so useful.
Perhaps already mentioned; with 4x5, I carry an extra ground glass. With 8x10, the extra stays in the vehicle.
If you're flying: a Package of M&Ms for if they don't serve a meal, and a roll of
TUMS in case they do. (Funny, but not kidding.)

Several of the aforementioned items, plus:
- Scotch / Magic tape - multiple uses including repairing a broken ground glass screen.
- Quick Disk for bellows extension exposure compensation.
- Pack of business cards - just in case.
and a llama would come in very handy to carry everything.
Forgot about the iphone and all the wonderfull apps
