Just read this and I feel so underequiped now with just a camera, film in holders, a couple of lenses, lightmeter and a notebook (and pencil). Going shopping for a truck now.

Got all kinds of junk that comes in handy. Small roll of gaffers tape, micro screw drivers, two small flashlights for focusing in low light, blue delicate painters tape which I use for labeling and tapeping film boxes shut, utility knife, lens brush, lens tissue, lens cleaner, rocket blower and antistactic brush for cleaning film holders, oh and a small level. I'm sure there are a few other odds and ends if I dug around, but this is the stuff off the top of my head. This is my 810 kit btw.

Toilet paper/paper towels, in case you have to make like a bear and handy for wiping away moisture/dirt. Small magnifying glass, for when you drop your loupe in the river and it floats away. String, blue painters tape, small leatherman tool, lens wrench/card, gloves with retractable finger tips for cold weather shooting, plastic garbage bag(s) for rainy days. Two cable releases. Backup batteries for your light meter. If you don't mind extra weight a charging source for your cell phone.

A couple of packs of Tecnu wipes in the event you manage to brush skin against Poison Ivy.

One of these for quick measuring for bellows draw, exposure calculations and leveling when the camera is high enough I can't easily see the level on the top of the body.

Rug around and I also have a small tape measure, spare light meter batteries, pencil, sharpie and a notebook book.

Re: Useful items in your bag (that other smart photographers forget)

This is the list that I go over before leaving:

F/64 backpack: camera, lenses, meter, film holders, dark cloth, water bottle, and shutter release cord. Sometimes also take a Sinar 533.21 Bellows hoodmask adapted to my Charmonix

    Tripod with head.

Inside the accessory case, things I might carry:
    Extra battery for meter
    Exposure Record Booklet
Mechanical 9mm Pencil, Pen, and Sharpie
    Magnifiers
    CU glasses
Sinar 531.71 two way spirit level
    Tripod adapter/screw
Gossen PILOT meter (very small and no batteries)
    Shutter release cord
    Zone VI viewing filter
    Small Level
    Shutter Release cords
    Center ND filter
10 Stop ND Filter & filter adapters
    Cleaning cloth
    Brush/Blower
    Linhof Finder
    Multi-tool
    RediTape Pocket Duct Tape Pack
Cord used for rock climbing gear
    Large HD garbage bag x2
    Novoflex (small) tool kit
    Money
    Cliff bars
    ProSip straw (water filter)

This is my “to go over before I go out” list. Don’t ever remember carrying all of the listed items at any one time. Before going out, I run down the list and take what I think I will need. All the items are stored in one drawer, so choosing what to take takes all of a minute or two.

    Last check:
    Are the film holders loaded?
Camera & Tripod: Kesseler quick mount, 1/4”, or 3/8”?
