"Is that a Minox in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?" she said.
    Thanks,

A hunters cap. Ran into bow hunters a few years ago out in southern Utah. I was standing there om Boulder Mtn. waiting for the wind to die down and they said I caught there eye. It wasn't hunting season but ever since then I've warn an orange hat just to be on the safe side.

You might need to cobble something together yourself. Consider looking for a industrial heavy duty "plastic" container that is draggable and to which a deep collar of flotation material can be attached.

The rangers in Grand Canyon hiked with a small umbrella rather than hat, and I wish I had done the same. Here's one that looks pretty good, as it hooks to a backpack, is silver on the top and black underneath to reduce glare. I'm confused by their product photo as it doesn't match the description, but that's another story.

Similar to Novoflex's PATRON system which can also convert into a shooting tent.
