is there a way to ignore or un-ignore forum areas
or is the lounge always "hidden" ?

maybe i am forgetful, but i remembered at one time the lounge area
would appear in recent posts/ unified view &C but now i have to
go to the front page / list to find it ...
has it always been like this, or the lounge "kind-of-hidden" from
the slurps, spyders and searchers ?

You can adjust your personal view of the forums via the "Edit Options" selection under the "My Settings" menu. The current default behavior was set several years ago in response to member feedback.

Community sub-forums are blocked from external search engines.

it seems the "edit options" offering is gone

if it isn't can you tell me where it it hidden?
i'd love to "streamline" my view ...

IIRC, this feature was provided by a plug-in, the software developer of which decided not to provide further support. I don't believe anyone has provided a replacement.

But, you can create your personalized version of the "Unified View" as described in this thread:
