I have not used the Fujinon 250mm, but I am sure it will cover 8x10 fine. I considered buying this lens, but I bought an Fujinon A 240mm, and I am glad I did. Fuji is known for making lenses in small shutters for the focal length. The 250mm W is in a #1 shutter; other manufactures 240mm lenses similar to the Fuji 250mm are in #3 shutters. But the Fujinon A 240mm is in a #0 shutter! This lense is very light and small. It it the size of a 150mm lens. And it covers 8x10 well. I have used it to photography architecture, and I have uses significant front rise; still, I have noticed no light drop off in the corners of my prints. I hear that this lens is just discontinued, but you may be able to get one from Mid West camera. I bought mine from them just a month ago. Another benefit of the 240mm: it is cheaper than the 250mm.
I have the 250. It covers 8x10 with lots of room for movement. I've seen the image circle stated as 398mm, and although I've never measured it, this seems about right. It's really a fine lens at a focal lenghth I really like. Can't really compare it to offerings from other lens mfgs., but in general Fuji lenses have a good reputation.
Note that there's a difference between the 250 f6.7 and the 250 f6.3: Fuji advertised an image circle of 389mm for the f6.7 and 312mm-320mm for the more current f6.3.
Oops, my mistake. I have the 250 f/6.7, and my comments apply only to that lens.
