Kudzu is new to me. Please Bob, when you come back wash the soles of your shoes with something to kill the Kuzo seeds.

Ok so time to revive this thread
I am going to be in Georgia and SC on business , early August, I have one of those Titan Pinholes as a travel camera and getting back to Toronto I want to leave out of Charlotte NC.
So my question is there anywhere within a 1 - 2 hour bus ride from Charlotte NC where I can 1. walk around easily and photograph this weed , I may be thinking a parkland area ? 2. The location needs to be within a reasonable cab ride from a hotel motel so I can hole up for a couple of days and not worry about driving.
Foolishly I thought I could find this plant in winter, now its summer and it should be growing into some pretty cool shapes.
I promise not to bring back any of the Weed to Canada.
I'm not sure what you mean by "parkland", but Kudzu is not exactly an ornamental plant, so it won't be part of any intentional landscaping. It usually grows on neglected, abandoned or derelict property. If the property is cared for, it probably won't be there. I'm a long way from Charlotte now, but I grew up northeast of there by about 30 miles and have been back several times both as a visitor and a resident. The whole I-85 and US-29 corridor used to be covered with it. Interstates not being camera-friendly places, I'd think about traveling US-29 up through Kannapolis, China Grove and Salisbury to look for kudzu. Alternatively you could head west toward Gastonia and Shelby on US-74. But I'd stick to the road less traveled for your search. And I'd think about renting a car for a day or two; relying on public transportation for such a pursuit would be both limiting and frustrating. Don't forget a green filter if you're using b&w; it's kind of a formless blob anyway.

Anyone can appreciate a fine print. But it takes a real photographer to appreciate a fine negative.
I guess my comment about parkland was misguided, In Canada there is Crown Land which is not landscaped and very common, so my comments would be directed to a location to a small town where just outside there may be a lot of unlandscaped land that happens to be infestated with kudzu.
I will not be driving as I have not driven in over 10 years ... Here in Toronto , I do not need to drive as my lab is a block from my home and my wife who does any driving for us is not coming on this trip. { I guess I should get it but I would not have enough time for this trip}
Therefore I am looking for a site specific location where this stuff is plentiful.
