    To answer one of your original questions... Any lens will work with any media.

    Some are optimized for one application or another (e.g. macro), but professional lenses like Schneiders will all perform well in all uses.

    Have you tested your statement on this lens?

    I am considering to buy it although it's quite an investment because at 180mm it would make a great wide angle on 8x10 with its huge coverage. Then I would also have a macro lens which it doesn't waste...

    Sergio, according to the brochure the lens covers 375 mm at 1:1 and f/22. This means 187.5 mm at infinity. See https://web.archive.org/web/20121019...foto/sr_ma.pdf Not a general purpose lens for 8x10.

    Thanks Dan. Apparently it can be used on 8x10 only for 1:1, 2:1, 4:1 Magnification Ratios...
