Elegant and arresting! Thoughtfully composed.
Dry plate, hand-coated with homemade emulsion. Seneca No. 2, 4"x5" format.
A known local landmark on the back trails, I had been looking and finally found it this weekend.
Should print out very nicely.
Newly made large format dry plates available! Look:

Petzval w. blue X-ray film:
Jesse, Pali, Merg, David - thank you for your words! This one was taken on a trip back in March of last year and just got around to printing it. I was on a "mission" during that trip to shoot railroad landscapes and caught this one along the way. Didn't think much of it until recently when it started growing on me. Interesting how time alters one's impression.
I agree. I only went up as far as Two Harbors and it was my second time shooting in Duluth earlier in that day -- I couldn't be happier with the light, architecture and landscape. The feeling really changes when you get higher up in the world. After this I drove up to Hibbing to photograph the iron pit.
