    You MUST Be Kidding Me

I have an older model 135mm Componon-S for enlarging but I'm missing the retaining ring. I measured 49mm for the threads but according to Schneider's in German, I managed to figure out the proper retaining ring would be the M50 x 0.75 ring. Does this sound right? If so, there is NOTHING available anywhere except for Schneider's ring which costs $50.00........ that's more than what I payed for the lens

Yes, they want 50 dollars for an ounce of aluminum... I'm strongly hoping that I'm wrong here.

    Here's Schneider's documentation: http://www.schneiderkreuznach.com/ar...componon_s.pdf

I've used a hose clamp to secure enlarging lenses.

    Hi
I had the same problem, after rooting around in my bits box I found that the Componons would screw into a T2 adaptor which I fixed to my enlarger lens panel with epoxy glue, works fine.

Well, it was more like a $500 lens when bought new, and a complete lens can still raise more like $150 used. You do get these lenses that cheap because the matching retaining rings, caps, boxes etc. are lost - but you'll lose in time what you saved in money if you complete them on the cheap. The quick way you'll have to pay list price - and unless SK Grimes has them shelved, having one cut will be even more expensive.

I found a flange from SK Grimes that fit my 135mm Componon-S it was not the thin retainer similar to what Schneider sells and it works fine, saved some money, and fits the thread of the lens.

Check out a good hardware store or an import car parts supplier for metric fasteners?
