Fedex from South America to US

Hi,

I'm going to be traveling for several months thru South America with my 4x5 set-up. I was wondering if anyone has any experience sending sheet film via Fedex from a location outside of North America to a lab in the United States? After the whole scare in Yemen are they now x-raying everything?

I'm basically paranoid about my stuff getting stolen. The camera I don't care about since it's a piece of junk [Busch Pressman]. I'm much more worried about having 4 months of work disappear on my way to the airport home.

My plan would be to shoot two exposures of everything, separate them into different boxes and send one of those boxes via Fedex to a lab and then have them send it on to a relative to who lives in Los Angeles.

Has anyone tried this workflow? I would be curious to hear if anyone has done this and what their experiences have been.

i have used the post office in many foreign countries to ship film and other equipment with no problems. i try and use EMS.
