    cbk,
At f:2, isn't the out-of-focus achieved with just a little bit of tilt? Rear tilt, maybe?
The neck scarf(?) helps to disguise/hide the focus transition.
Oh, and I like the image, by the way.

When a photographer does black on black (black object on black background), they have a choice: let the object blend in with the background, or use separation lights/rim lights to create subtle highlights that outline the object to separate it from the dark background.

Perhaps you would've preferred the separation.

Which is ok, but I'd like to know how it was done.
I don't think so. It looks more like a scarf than collar and comes down farther on her torso than it might at first appear. If you trace the shape of her shoulders into a probably neck, the proportions look pretty normal. It only appears otherwise because the scarf comes so far down her body.

It's possible it's natural. But if you remove the cloth in photoshop and make a neck, it's borderline, especially since she is not lifting her chin up. But never mind, I am not here to disparage the image (or it's maker) or make comments on the artistic merits.

I am only interested in how this image was made.

I am with gth. In fact, it makes me think the head does not belong with this body but is a montage.

Hey! The boobs are out of focus!!

    Just joking...

I really like the lighting, the model, the composition... I am just not crazy about the blurred body which looks like it was done with tilt. It can't be ƒ2 if the lens used is a Symmar by the way. Perhaps, as noted above, the scarf hides the out of focus transition dividing the composition in two (blurred/not blurred).
I think it would have been a much stronger image if everything was in focus. I've personally become a bit tired of the tilt effect... even when I do it

It is a great portrait anyway.

If only online viewing was not so crappy - or I should say on my Macbook. If I lean my screen back too much the shadow goes all to hell, and the lighting goes all contrasty. By adjusting my screen to vertical I can almost make out the folds in the cloth around her neck and the lighting makes more sense. Then the image looks more natural.

In any case, I'd like to know....

    Re: Nude

I think there was a confusion with the name of the camera and the ƒ stop.

There are no Symmars that open up to ƒ2 that I know.
