Used Fresnel - any way to clean up micro scratches

I did ebay "roulette" and bought a used Sinar fresnel. It came in and except for a fair number of tiny scratches on outer surface, it is fine.

Is there any way to buff them out or coat the surface with a clear wax to make them disappear?

If it's the non-fresnel side I would try polishing with an abrasive. A headlight refinishing kit probably has everything you need.

Toothpaste is also a fine abrasive - but it can be slow so not the best if the scratches are deep.

The scratches are plentiful but don't appear deep. More of a frosting appearance. I'll try the abrasive recommendation. More of a permanent fix. I was considering using a clear paste wax to fill but that seen like a quick fix.

Looks like loope damage to me.

Thanks for your thoughts and recommendations.

i would go very lightly at first whatever you use
if you go at it it might leave swirls and then you need to take the swirls out and that might mean damage if heavy handed
the metal polish can work extremely well though

I would second the headlight polish. You could also try a product called Brillianize. http://www.brillianize.com I used to use this to polish out scratches on plexiglas surfaces in the studio. It works really well.

There are plastic polishes made for this. Look in a motorcycle dealer, as they will have at least a few. Also, Brasso takes out scratches in plastic.

Maguire's car wax cleaner is very good for this. In the maroon bottle.
