Thread: The fat lady sings......

    The fat lady sings......

Just got this email - no more E6 processing in Nashville.

"I sincerely regret to announce that, after 30 years of service dedicated to the professional photographic community, Chromatics will cease processing E6 slide & transparency film on Sept 9. Sadly, it’s become impossible to maintain the complex chemistry to our critical standards with so little film to process. For professional level processing, we now recommend contacting our good friends, Max, Linda & Travis at: E6 Lab of Atlanta"

Chromatics was a great lab. My studio used to be a block away and I could walk film to them and get it back in 2 hours. That was then, this is now.

    RIP

Yep, sad indeed. I used to use them quite a bit.

E-Six Lab in Atlanta is superb though.

    Henry,
Chromatics just gave up on C-41 and B&W back on July 1. They said it just wasn't worth the time and money to maintain chemistry. At least Pro Photo still does C-41 and B&W... for now.

Better hope she doesn't find a cure!

    Steve,
Can you recommend a good lab for E-6 in Knoxville or Chattanooga? I find myself in both cities from time time. It would be nice to have a place to drop off film instead of mailing.
    Thanks.

Folks/Guys, please support Edgar Praus at Praus Productions in New York. Edgar actually shoots film weekly and is actively involved in his business.

His service is first class and prices are reasonable.

I shoot 5x8 and 11x14 - Edgar can process both (amazing)!

Simple market consolidation with the most efficient provider(s) prevailing.

These days with competitive overnight shipping I don't see what the big deal is?

    hey guys,

here's another lab(albeit out here in CA), that does 1st class E-6 processing 35mm-->8x10. I've been sending my stuff to them since last year, and so far nothing but stupendous results!

great pricing too! check out their website.

I mail ALL my e-6 to them, along with a good bit of c-41.

    cheers!

    Chris,

Nothing in Knoxville, Thompson's runs E-6 three times a week, but I've had film ruined there; they lost a lab guy and they said a lot of days they have no film to run.

I don't get down Chattanooga way much except passing through.

    Cheers, Steve
