    focusing

Hi, I haven't used a 4x5 camera in a while. When using a loupe, you place it 1/3 do wn from the top, then 2/3 down from the top, and at these two points the subject should be sharp, correct? Thanks, Raven

Wrong. If you want a shallow depth of field then whatever you have chosen to be in focus should be in focus. An example of this would be a portrait. If you want a large depth of field then everything on the ground glass should be in focus. An example of this would be a landscape. Close subject with a receding scene behind it. You may be thinking of depth of field and that works out to focusing 1/3 of the way into the scene for landscapes and 1/2 the way into the scene for close-ups. This is just a general rule. The axiom "the ground glass doesn't lie" is what should guide you. James
