Need new ground glass for deardorff, Suggestions?

I recently purchased a new frame for the ground glass of my V8 Deardorff, since the original frame had broken. Unfortunately, the new frame I ordered (an original Deardorff replacement, or so I'm told), does not fit the older ground glass. The glass is larger by 1mm or so, very frustrating.

Anyway, I need to purchase new ground glass (the older glass was pretty beat up anyway). My questions are:

Is there a particular company or type that is better than others?
Do I have to pay $100 for it, or are there cheaper options? and
Why would I want cut corners opposed to square corners?

    Thanks,

    Noah

A great groundglass manufacturer is here. The cut corners are useful for checking vignetting.

Cut corners allow you to check lens coverage when using movements - you look through the corner if you can see through the lens you have coverage.

1 mm is easy to take off using coarse wet & dry paper (wet), it just need care, practice helps.

If you want a new screen, Steve Hopf isn't too expensive, or make your own, I've done both I now make all my own, and a few for others but I'll leave the commercial side to Steve

Surplus Shed has Eastman Kodak ground glass. The 8x10 is $12.00 & the 4x5 is $3.00 (or 10 for $25.00). I bought 1 of each & shipping was only $5.00. I don't think you can do any better than Eastman Kodak glass.

The package is supposed to arrive on Monday. Eastman Kodak probably sold all their glass inventory to Surplus Shed. After all Kodak hasn't had a market for ground glass for many, many years. This glass is probably very old. I'm guessing the quality is equal to Hopf's or even better.

To quickly get rid of that extra 1 mm of glass, take it and your camera back to your local glass shop. Ask them to grind the glass to fit. They have grinding machines that can do the job in seconds. In my case, it was such a small job the shop didn't even bother charging me.

It's easy to take a mm off with silicon carbide wet or dry sandpaper.
Take a sheet, lay it on a flat surface, wet it with a few drops of water & start sanding away. Should take 10-30 minutes & you get a nice smooth edge.
    I used a 220 grit & gave a very smooth edge
