    Sneaking around Kodak....

I'm not in love with it at all. But I think her sneakers are neat. Sometimes you just gotta keep shooting.

    Scoot,

Beautiful shot and I like the softened highlight glow! What is a half-Petzval? Enlighten us, please.

    Thanks, Hugo!

This is a 6" Petzval that's missing the front cemented doublet. Took the air-spaced group out of the rear and screwed it into the front. Effectively reversed the group. Was going for a meniscus-like image. Not sure I hit it, but I like the look.

    Thank you and Thank you.

Just tried this with a Hyatt 16"/f4 and it turns out too long BUT the Hyatt 12"/f5 becomes approx. 26". Will try this on the C-1 and pray.

(Hyatt is a rebrand of B&L)

    Re: September Portraits

I had some very dear friends stay with us for a few days and couldn't help getting a plate of beautiful Gemma.

I wanted some hard lighting but this is probably a little too hard on the one side. Regardless, I'm happy with what comes out of the 15" Kodak Portrait lens, sharp as can be...but a little slow indoors at f5. I didn't want to have her sitting for longer than 12 seconds so I'm a little under (maybe half a stop of what I would like).

    8x10 Ambrotype on black glass. 12 secs @ f5 (with a homemade headbrace )
