Thread: Some Soft Focus Lens Sales Information

Re: Some Soft Focus Lens Sales Information

I actually scoooped up a nice little quarter plate Rochester Optical Company tailboard camera at opening bid ! While this may not sound very exciting, quarter plate size is pretty rare for circa 1890 American-made field/view cameras. Second one I have purchased in the last 15 years of looking.

Now I have to figure out how to pay breker....no credit card and no paypal.... international wire ? ugh...

Check out XE.com. I've used them before. Forgotten my password now so would have to start over, but it works pretty good.

Breker says my invoice is for xxx Euros and I need to pay all bank fees?

    1. How do I lock in a conversion rate to equal what Breker needs? Does the bank handle that?

    2. How do I pay for fees Breker gets for accepting a wire? Banks typically charge to send wires AND receive wires...?

    3. Then once they are paid for the item, then I need to pay shipping separately?

Seems very like a cumbersome process....they should just take credit cards and add 3% surcharge...

    thanks for the help

You just tell the bank how much the seller needs to recieve (merchandise+shipping) on top of that they add comission for you to pay.

We have a very cheap account to account system in the EC (IBAN) between countries.
You could perhaps get someone in the Euro Zone to help you out? Denmark is still outside the Euro zone, though, so there would be a small extra fee.
Even, perhaps, with collect and post by a near LFPFer?
I have a running problem with auctions (mostly collection) and have been helped before.
Perhaps Dr. Klaus has a contact - he has bought from Breker before?
You should, perhaps, check with Breker to find out about how much time you have for payment and days of grace before storage fees mount up?

It seems like these are questions that should have been answered before the commitment was made.
Oh yes, hindsight is still 20/20!
Honestly, I've just never found anything that makes it worth paying the buyer's premium, so I never got this far.

Even in a poor state, this eidoscope #2 sold for 237 euros (both elements with separation, no iris, rust inside).
Didnt think it would go that high...
