I'd guess you're right Steven! There's always been funny pricing on these, the RV usually goes for quite a bit less than the RVP, which in turn usually goes for quite a bit less than the Cooke Achromatic Portrait, even though all three are the very same lens. The RV doesn't open quite as wide as the others, but the wise user knows to simply unscrew the aperture mechanism completely, giving the RV the same maximum aperture as the others. I have two Cooke casket sets with RV's, one in a standard barrel, and one in a very short barrel made to fit into an aperture mechanism that extends it to full length. Using that version with only the short barrel greatly increases coverage, although the corners are very soft. It appears Cooke made quite a few variations of their casket sets...
