My logic is that the lenses always attract higher bids on the easiest available internet auction site (Ebay) whilst European Auctioneer based internet sales have much less exposure and are available only at very irregular intervals. Even the most PR minded EU auctioneers do not always get the prices we have seen on Ebay.

The situation is somewhat different for hundreds of Leica, Hasselblad, Robot, Rolleiflex etc. collectors. They still seem to flock (both physically and electronically)to the these annual/biannual sales - almost like a ritual!

My finger was over the button for a few minutes, but I am supposed to be in selling mode at the moment!
This is one of those engraved for the American market.
Looks quite good, with the soft identicator IIII in the correct position.

I had one of these once, or maybe it was a 5D I can't recall without looking in my database. But the super-long threads on these models were for adapting to early aerial photo reconnaissance cameras in WWI. The flange had several screws that locked the lens in any position along the rear threaded barrel, for some reason.

oh so that was what it was for... I was wondering.

I have one - with flange, but there must have been two kinds of flanges (?) - Mine is "normal" and fits the thicker thread... the super long thread is slimmer and the threads are much finer..

Here is mine, it was a 5D. Note the smaller screws between the main flange screws. When tightened, the flange locked to the lens. This is the same lens, before and after I polished off the old green military paint.
