I found that it was listed yesterday evening but disappeared now.
Just noticed that another Wollensak Vitax No5 was sold with what looks like a fresh polishing job on the forward barrel for $556 ... no flange, working shutter but no work on iris or SF adjustment (150922305515)

The only Ross candidates I can find are the two Cabinet no.3 lenses - both reaching very substantial prices. But these are not really soft lenses - just a standard Petzval with the same kind of aura as the Dallmeyer 3B's.

    £500, plus approx. 20%.
but you've overlooked the Swift Cabinet lens, Steven - surely that deserves a mention.....................

I agree it was interesting (and I did have the "bid now" button ready) but it is still a non-pictorial/non soft lens in CCHarrison's definition for this thread.

I also agree that some other classic/rare lens sales are of general interest and deserve an airing here - but it would require a linked and updateable website to collect and collate - in the same way as CC has done with soft lenses.

    T,T & H, Cooke series 2E, 10.25".
110962835506. Looked nice but minus flange. Unable to see (from serial number) whether this is pre-war uncoated or coated later.
    £1288.

Tempus fugit and when checking this 2E figure in CC's sales list, I discovered that the last updating of entries was the 4th quarter of last year!
I understand the demands on people lead to backlogs - I am a big sinner myself - but perhaps CC could mention whether it is likely to be updated at some time?

    Hi Steven

You are correct, I havent updated it an quite some time, for two reasons. First, is this thread provides a great deal of information and second, I dont think prices have changed that much from the data I have recorded. I think I have a fairly good sample. SF lenses have a large standard deviation, but the average price has been pretty stable over the past year or two in my opinion.... Having said that, if I can muster a half a day or so, OR some kind soul would like to help me - I'd be glad to update my list.

Re: Some Soft Focus Lens Sales Information

I tend to agree about the stability of prices in general and the occasional atypical auctions. Especially as regards the massive data for Cooke, Dallmeyer and Wollensak! But some "lesser" names (frequencywise) could do with some more data, perhaps?
