Guilty. That's what happens when two or three people really, really want a lens that's on ebay. I don't think the euro exchange rate helps either.

A more accurate value is probably (and I'm guessing here) around two thirds of that price but I'm philosophic - I see the difference as a tiny cost spread over the years of enjoyment. (I'm very happy )

    Also from the same seller a smaller TTH '4 1/4 x 3 1/4 RVP Eq.Focus 8.8 Inches' (352508997920) made £725 = EUR 828.62 (not me that time).

They are very portable soft focus lenses. Sometimes they slip by the average ebay watcher, but not often.

Really enjoyed your 2012 thread on 'Rapid View Portrait (RVP) Pictorial lens', very informative.

Voigtlander Universal Heliar 1:4.5 / 42cm, $4,016 (+ s&h). Nice lens, but yeow! The classic soft focus lenses are holding their value well...

Thanks! I see this one just sold for only $441 with a beautiful plate camera, holders, and another lens. That one slipped by most people, I could tell by looking at the large iris it was a Rapid View Portrait. 173659250695

UPDATE: My mistake, I could have sworn I saw "RVP" on the picture of the lens...but it's just "RV".

This mistake is quite understandable as it has the later style engraving, whilst most RVs have the earlier style. It is the very useful full plate size, too!

No, there was a casket in the Marlow Bros set - but it looked like it came with the RV and the other T,T & H lens.

The casket RV looks a lot less "clean" in design and is full of Instructions, f values and the 3 focal lengths!
