    6x9 or 6x7 back for a MPP

Is it possible to get a 6x9 or 6x7 back for a MPP MKV1. I am starting to think t hat a monorail may be a better choice. Landscape,(medium treks), and architectur e(allsorts) are my main subjects. I will be using a 90mm most of the time. Any thoughts? Lee.

I take it that y'r MPP press camera has a spring, not a Graflok (= International) back. If it has a Graflok, well, there are Graflex roll holders that make 2 1/4 x 2 1/4, 2 1/4 x 2 3/4, and 2 1/4 x 3 1/8 exposures. Shells that mount on 4x5 cameras with Graflok backs exist for all three sizes.

Calumet make a slide-in roll holder that will make 6x7 exposures on 120 film. I've seen the things, they really exist. I've been told, but never bothered to check Calumet's site to verify, that they also make one for 6x7.

If you want an old, slightly obnoxious but less expensive holder, the Adapt-A-Roll 620, a slip-in roll holder for 2 1/4 x 3 1/4 exposures, was made to fit 4x5 cameras. I use 2x3 Adapt-A-Rolls in 2x3 Graphics. They work well, but will take film up only on a 620 spool. This is the obnoxious part.

If you're made of money, Sinar makes a lovely slip-in roll holder with adjustable format for 4x5 cameras. IIRC, it goes as wide as 6x12.

I don't see what difference a monorail would make with respect to film holders.

    Cheers,

    Dan

I find the 6x9 Galvin monorail with springback that takes the Graflex RH10 rollfilm back a very good compromise and very lightweight.
