Thom on shooting old stuff with new stuff

Thom Bennett has a great piece in the May/June View Camera Magazine on shooting antiques with a view camera and a digital back. The color reproductions are great.

Thanks Ed! The feature of your 4 photographs were great as well. In fact, the entire issue was very enjoyable from the feature on Victoria Perlot's work to the in-depth article about HABS/HAER/HALS processing to the story about the permanent exhibit of Ezra Stoller's work. It is amazing to me that, in this day and age of digital, digital, digital, Steve always finds interesting and varied large format subjects to feature. I always look forward to the latest issue of View Camera especially if my mug is in it! Momma's gonna be so proud.

One thing I like about having a magazine arrive at my door is that I know the articles have been vetted by someone who is knowledgeable about the subject at hand. As wonderful as the internet is it can, at times, lead to erroneous information and you have to really sift through a lot of chaff to get to the wheat. The magazine format distills the information, in an edited form, for you and presents work that is relevant.
