    Another lurker decloaking

Hi all, I guess it's time to de-lurk at least temporarily and announce myself. I'm brand new to LF, have just bought a 4x5 (thanks Ari!) and a lens (thanks pyro!) here, and having just gotten my film delivered yesterday am very excited to go out and play with the camera this coming weekend.

I livei n the south of France, not far from Nice. I've "worked my way up" to LF, as I started with 35mm, abandoned that for 6x6cm, and now want a new toy.

And now, back to my lurking! Thanks to all for making this a good home for LF.

    Bienvenue E S,

If you ever make it over to the Charente, around Cognac area, just chime in and I'll be happy to do some LF wandering with you.

    Congratulations – happy shooting,

    Johnny

Merci Johnny! And the same if you're ever near Nice / Grasse / Cannes.

Thank you, Vick! Actually, after casting around for years burning smaller-format film on everything, I've, um, shall we say focussed on Roman ruins and roads. There are really so many Roman-era leavings around here that it would be hard to run out of things to photograph even if I left aside everything else!

Eek. Once I get the camera out of the office and start learning how to use it. Thanks for the nudge, though!

    Best regards

Welcome! I traveled through Grasse and Cannes a few years ago. Very beautiful! You're a lucky person to live there.

    Cheers, Steve

Thanks for the welcome, Steve! Yes, I count my lucky stars frequently that my company sent me over here... such a hard life.

Have just put my first negatives into a wash bath -- they worked! They actually have recognizable images on them! I'm so happy. It's been a while since I did any developing, so I'm excited not only to have photographed something successfully in LF, but to have had that "magic moment" of taking negatives out of the fixer and seeing real images. Will post in the appropriate threads once I have them scanned.

A hearty hello from Washington State in the upper Northwest US, close to Canada, close to the Pacific Ocean. I would love to hear about your area of the World.
