Landscapers; where is your next lust

For most of the past decade I have gone on vacation to southern Utah/northern AZ. Always by way of I-80, 76, 70.

My next lust is Nebraska. I don't know if that sounds odd to you guys but the light in April and October (my vacation months) seems to be just amazing. I spent a few days scouting at the end of my April '10 vacation and just decided that there was a lot to take in. There was one morning after an overnight storm where the clouds were perfect, the sky was purple, and the fields were golden.

How about you guys? Where is your next lust?

I'm fortunate enough to live in the place that inspires me. Not Colorado Springs specifically, but Colorado. The plains, the mountains and the desert all have their appeal and I can't imagine that I'll run out of subjects any time soon. But I would like an opportunity to shoot in the deciduous forests of the east and would like to trek in the Himalaya with my camera gear sometime. And there' always Iceland. And Antarctica...

Well, I happen to live in Patagonia so have a lot of places to explore. Would absolutely love to shoot in the Atacama desert in Chile.

Easter Island, in stereo with 2 4x5's.
Of course I'd shoot with the 8x10 too, just not in stereo.
Oh, and a Cirkut for panos.
    Then to shoot Aztec ruins......
......Right after I win the state lotto.

The Scottish Highlands for me. Perhaps also Hawaii and Japan. Scotland should be doable, as I live in Germany. I doubt I will get to either Hawaii or Japan in the next 5-7 years.

Iceland, but would equally love to get back to New Zealand, explore Tasmania, or closer to home, spend a lot of time on the Olympic Peninsula.

But I'll just have stick real close to home and concentrate in the redwoods, with occasional trips to Yosemite.

Re: Landscapers; where is your next lust

I have many "where" lusts (see below). But the biggest lust in my life is "time" to concentrate on photography. I would be perfectly happy to find the time to shoot within a few hours drive from home in Memphis, TN. Hopefully ...... when my currently 18 month old daughter is old enough to trek with me, or better yet when she is strong enough to carry her grizzly old dad's gear.

Till then ....scan and print film from the last 10 years.

    (1) Khumbu Ice Fall near Everest Base Camp
    (2) Solo canoe trip down the Green River from Hwy 70 through Canyonlands NP to Colorado River confluence. Three weeks or more for this trip would be ideal. Easy to carry LF gear down this stretch. Solitude and all the time in the world to photograph. I did this 14 years back, but was not a "photographer" then.
    (3) The Swahili coast in Africa (eg. Zanzibar)
    (4) Discipline to stay away from blockbuster views photographed countless time by others.

    Patagonia
    Nepal
    Buhtan

That would take care of me for a while.

Of course I love my home state of Colorado.
