A lot depends on what you mean by "standard lens." The lens age, condition, manufacturer, etc. can have a big bearing on the price. I believe the camera alone in good to excellent condition generally sells in the range of $500 - $800.

Joe, there is no such thing as a late model Linhof Technika III. It hasn't been made for many years. The III has front lens tilt to the rear only. That said, it is a good, solid, camera if it has been properly cared for. Check the bellows carefully. I don't know the dates the III was last made, but there are people on this forum who can give the exact dates.

    Regards,

I have been shooting with my Tech III for about 10 years. I agree on the above prices and no, I don't think there are better ways to spend... well other than going up to a IV or Master.

    Joe,

When you state "late version" I assume you are referring to Version 5 of the Linhof Technika III which was introduced in 1955. This one is the most desirable and as such, is worth the most. See the following web page for comparisons of the III versions, plus information on the IV, V and Master (also a great website in general!):

    http://www.cameraquest.com/techs.htm

MAKE SURE if you purchase a Technika III with a lens that the rangefinder cam is included and that the serial numbers match the camera and lens. Cams cannot be manufactured for the III's anymore and each cam was cut specifically for the individual camera and lens. So, I would suggest searching for an outfit which includes the lenses you will desire in the future. Of course, you will always be able to use other lenses by focusing on the ground glass. If you are new to LF and/or Linhof's...be patient and research well. Please feel free to e-mail me if you find a candidate on Ebay and you want a second opinion. Best of luck!

    Sincerely,

    J. P. Mose
