Greetings, all - time to stop lurking!

Hmm, having participated in a thread for the first time, it's time to introduce myself.

I've been reading the forum since the first of the year, and I'm humbled by the degree of proficiency and artistic vision displayed here. Thanks to all who share their knowledge.

I'm a long-time 4x5 user, once owned a shaky old Korona 8x10, and recently purchased an 1895 Rochester Optical Company whole-plate camera that has created a deep and profound addiction.

I've worked as a photojournalist, commercial photographer, commercial studio manager, and as an archivist at the Oregon Historical Society, where I scanned about 15,000 images over a period of a few years. Budget cuts at the OHS put me in the "not-old-enough-to-retire, looking for new opportunities" category. I figure if you can't make money, make art, and have been squeezing a bit of money out of the household budget to feed my WP addiction.

I live in the greater Portland, Oregon area, and I am webmaster/communications/newsletter person on the board of directors for the Portland Photograpers' Forum, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting creative photography in the greater Portland area.

Thanks, Vick. I suppose it is a big support group, isn't it? I'm sure LF addiction can't be cured, but if we all help each other cope, we'll be the happier for it.
