July 10-October 3, 2010
Monterey Museum of Art, La Mirada

In 1978, Ansel Adams selected images he wished to make available to museums and art institutions. Although he was able to complete a substantial number of the prints, his death in 1984 curtailed the long-range plans for the project. As a result, only a few complete “Museum Sets” were produced.

The Monterey Museum of Art’s exhibition presents the public with the unique occasion to view one of the few complete Museum Set portfolios (70 prints). This rare opportunity, presented in collaboration with Ansel Adams’ heirs, highlights all of the most canonical images chosen by the artist as his most important works.
