    Piezography - color staining

I've installed my new piezography K7 ink set in my Epson 7600 and I haven't been able to get rid of the yellow and magenta color staining in the highlights.

I've tried the following to remedy the problem:

    1. Running several cleaning cycles and nozzle check patterns.
    2. Printing flush test targets to remove the color ink.
    3. Cleaning the capping station with warm water and running a cleaning cycle. Repeated the procedure on two separate days letting the printer sit between cleanings.
    4. Clean the wiper with warm water and a PecPad.

What else can I do to remove the color staining?

Talk to Jon Cone about it. He'll know what to do.

    Jeremy,

I am not certain if you ran the INIT FILLS in the printer that are designed to move the ink from the cartridge into the print heads.

Generally it takes two INIT FILLS until ink from the cart becomes present in full strength at the print head. A third usually moves the stain out. Very few people use flush carts first opting to just use the new inks to push.

Yellow and magenta pigments provide the greatest staining power and they are also in the lightest shades of Piezography ink.

In the 7600 you perform an INIT FILL as follows:

    # Turn the printer on while holding down the following three buttons: Paper Feed Up, Paper Feed Down and Cut Eject. The printer will start up in the "Check Menu."
    # Scroll through the list to the "Cleaning" section. Press the Enter/Cut-Eject button.
    # Scroll through the cleaning list to "init. fill" (initial fill). Press the Enter/Cut-Eject button. The printer will flush out the old set of inks, refilling with the new set.
    # Turn the printer off to exit the "check menu."

This is part of our instructions, just in case make sure that you have the latest instructions which you can get on the piezography website here:
