In checking on this I come up with the requirement for 4x5 and larger B&W negs and transparencies. I hear some say digital is OK, but I can't find anything to that effect in searching for information.
Called the folks with NPS.gov and they can't put me in touch with anyone who has current knowledge on this. They only say 'keep looking'.
Where do I look to find current information on the photo requirements concerning digital processes, media and storage.
With Kodak and others saying long term digital storage is a myth & B&W negatives are still the standard, how does this effect HABS/HAER and historical documentation of historical sites? One big problem is the storage and constant re-copying and continual updating as newer technologies and media are introduced. We know B&W negatives can still be printed from after 100 years and more, from experience. Just try getting information from a floppy disk, Bernouli or Zip Disk now.
Any solid references and personal experience are appreciated.
