    Channel Characteristics

    Folks,

Being digitally challenged, is using the green channel of the RGB file roughly the same effect as panchromatic B&W film shot with a green filter, and so on?

There is some difference because the G channel of RGB functions more like a tri-color filter in that it is much darker than a regular green filter used for B&W film. However, if you were to use a #58 or #61 tricolor filter when exposing B&W film the effect would be much like using the G channel of RGB.
