thoughts on Linhoff M679 (older, cc version)

now, i'm not that serious about buying this kind of thing (but i did asking about cambo and other stuff before, so..), but if right opportunity comes along, maybe i'll go into big format..
    so, there is for sell:
    - Linhof M679 housing (older version, also called cc, i think, newer version is cs, which have some more in refined movements and also swing option, so there's no big need for tripod head, i guess. that would be handy on older version, imo).
    - Rodenstock Apo Sironar S 150mm
    - Rodenstock Apo Grandagon 55mm
    - 6x7 film back
    - bellows for standard lenses
    - bellows for wide lenses
    - original manual
    - original casing
all together probably like kind of "kit" version.. price: 1700€

any thoughts about gear, lenses, price? as i can see, it also can be used with regular dslr camera on the back etc..

    Hi Izo,

The price sounds okay, but it's not "big format" - it's limited to 6x9 cm, so you need to think about that. I think it can be upgraded to the cs model - perhaps Bob Solomon will chime in.

    Cheers,

it's not 4x5 (well, i could know that with name 679, hehe, silly me)? hm, so probably no 6x12 backs etc, and there's probably on 6x9 problem with vignetting etc, so center filter is a must...

There have been 3 models of the M679 cameras.

The original one was the M679. It was replaced with the M679cc and that has been replaced with the M679cs.

Exactly which one are you looking at?

Izo - I have the Rodenstock 55mm, and I've never felt the need for a center filter on 6x9...

Bob - He's looking at the cc. I remember having read somewhere that it was user-upgradeable to the cs. Is that right? And what would it cost?

Yes the cc can be upgraded to the cs. He will have to contact the Linhof distributor or service center in his country for details.

The originasl M679 has no rise or shift on the front or rear standard and has a built-in version of the Linhof Profi III ball head.

The M679cc has front rise and shift and the same ball head design.

The current M679cs has rise and shift on both the front and a geared head instead of the Profi ball head.

The camera name plates are planly marked with the model; M679, M679cc or M679cs.

So what you are apparently looking at is the original M679 and not a cc or cs version.

Conversion, when possible, to a newer version, is expensive.
